data

collection of discrete or continuous values that convey information, describing the quantity, quality, fact, statistics, other basic units of meaning, or simply sequences of symbols that may be further interpreted formally (Source: Wikipedia)

hierarchical

arranged according to a defined order or rank

interoperable

compatible or suitable for exchange and use, be it by humans or machines

license

an official, usually legal, text specifying what can and cannot be done with something

O

ortholog

A gene in a different species that evolved from a common ancestral gene by speciation. In general, orthologs retain the same function during the course of evolution.

outlier

a data point which is outside the norm and differs from expectations

terminology

a specific set of terms which are used to describe concepts specific to a specific topic or body of data

V

versioning

assigning a unique version name or number to something; in bioinformatics, versioning is used for data sets, software, vocabularies

vocabulary

a collection of terms which refer to specific concepts and which are used in a given domain (see also terminology)
